Sunset District

A neighborhood with an active community.

Welcome to Sunset District

A peaceful and residential family-friendly neighborhood with an active community

Sunset District is a Northern Californian gem of a community that offers a tranquil departure from the hustle of the city. Hugged by the Gulf to the west, San Francisco Botanical Gardens to the north, San Francisco Zoo to the south, and Twin Peaks to the east, there are endless calm yet exciting destinations and activities to take advantage of when you live in the area. Outdoor enthusiasts fawn over the ability to break a sweat in the coolest places around, whether they’re jogging down Ocean Beach or taking a run through Golden Gate Park. No stranger to cool, foggy weather, Sunset District is a laid back, beautiful, beachy-yet-urban place you’ll quickly feel relaxed and at ease in.

Surrounded by lush green parks, lakes, golf courses, and stunning sunset views, this residential community is serene yet thriving. There is no shortage of restaurants, entertainment, and fun things to do and see in town and beyond. It’s a pretty walkable place with new things to discover every day — from coffee shops to ethnic markets. Throughout the neatly lined streets of the district, you’ll mainly find classic bright and colorful single-family homes; on the shore, you can find adorable and rugged beach bungalows for those who love to surf. This family-friendly and professional community boasting majestic views makes Northern Californian life dreamy.

Sunset District offers no shortage of delightful local restaurants to try and inviting storefronts to peruse. Outerlands is a cozy weather-wooded place serving up New American eats; they are popular for their spectacular brunch. You know Devil’s Teeth Bakery is good because there are lines out the door to grab breakfast sandwiches, daily baked sourdough, and Sunday beignets. For a cool hole-in-the-wall Korean spot, get a table at Toyose Restaurant in their unique repurposed garage, which offers late-night eats & soju cocktails. Scream for ice cream at Polly Ann Ice Cream, which has traditional and inventive flavors you’ll want to come back for.

Before grabbing a refreshing beverage in town, get in an afternoon of hiking at Sutro Baths Recreation Area, a year-round loop trail that offers the perfect chance to see wildlife and go bird watching. At Hidden Garden Steps, you’ll hop over beautifully-colored mosaic tiles while exercising through gorgeous gardens. It’s easy to get outside and enjoy the fresh, crisp California air, whether cycling or strolling, at Golden Gate Park, the third most visited park in the nation. Once a year, you can catch Outside Lands Music Festival, an exciting event that takes place inside the iconic park.
